About Anytime Diesel
Anytime Diesel is building IoT-enabled fleet and fuel-management solutions that connect vehicle, fuel and industrial hardware with software platforms for real-time monitoring, automation, alerts and data-driven fleet operations.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior IoT & Embedded Systems Engineer who can own and troubleshoot IoT solutions across the complete technology stack—from electronics, sensors and embedded firmware to communication protocols, gateways, networking, server-side data ingestion and cloud/API layers.
The candidate should be capable of independently diagnosing an IoT system across hardware, firmware, communication protocols, edge/gateway software, networking, server-side data ingestion and cloud/API layers.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, integrate and maintain scalable sensor-to-cloud IoT solutions for fleet, fuel-management and industrial automation applications.
• Work hands-on with vehicle hardware, fuel-level sensors, GPS/telematics devices, OBD/vehicle interfaces, MCUs, IoT gateways and industrial equipment.
• Translate requirements into hardware, firmware, communication and cloud/data-architecture solutions.
• Design/review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, component selection, power architecture, signal conditioning, protection circuits, relay/actuator drivers and I/O interfaces.
• Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for 32-bit MCUs and gateways, including drivers, peripheral interfaces, protocol handling, diagnostics, data processing and local storage.
• Integrate UART, RS232, RS485, CAN/CAN J1939, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, ADC and BLE interfaces.
• Integrate Modbus RTU/TCP and proprietary binary protocols; analyze packet structures, byte order, checksums, CRCs, acknowledgements and retries.
• Integrate automotive/telematics systems including GPS/GNSS, CAN/J1939, OBD/UDS and commercial vehicle tracking hardware.
• Integrate fuel dispensers, fuel-level sensors, e-locks, RFID systems, meters, pumps and other industrial/vehicle equipment using documented or proprietary interfaces.
• Perform protocol analysis using datasheets, technical manuals, serial logs, packet captures, logic-analyzer traces and oscilloscope measurements.
• Develop and troubleshoot device-to-server communication using TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, MQTT and raw TCP/UDP sockets.
• Work with telemetry ingestion, device provisioning, data models, APIs, databases/SQL and time-series storage.
• Support Linux-based edge/gateway and server environments, including networking, services, logs and configuration.
• Implement device lifecycle management including provisioning, remote configuration, health monitoring, diagnostics and OTA/FOTA.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, JTAG/debuggers, serial tools and protocol analyzers for troubleshooting.
• Support prototype bring-up, lab validation, vehicle installation, field testing, commissioning and production deployment.
• Diagnose issues end-to-end across hardware, firmware, protocols, gateway software, network, server ingestion, databases and APIs.
• Prepare architecture diagrams, interface/protocol specifications, API specifications, wiring/interface notes, test procedures and deployment guides.
• Collaborate with product, software, operations and field teams and own features from requirement through prototype, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
Must-Have Qualifications & Skills
• B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Computer Science or related engineering.
• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in IoT, embedded systems, telematics, industrial automation or related fields; exceptionally strong 4+ year candidates may be considered.
• Strong Embedded C/C++ and practical Python for automation, diagnostics, testing or data processing.
• Experience with ESP32, STM32, NXP or equivalent 32-bit MCUs; understanding of RTOS concepts preferred.
• Hands-on understanding of UART, RS232, RS485, CAN/CAN J1939, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO and ADC.
• Experience with Modbus and/or proprietary industrial/automotive protocols, including binary parsing, byte order, checksum and CRC.
• Strong TCP/IP fundamentals and practical device-to-server communication experience, including TCP/UDP sockets.
• Experience integrating sensors, gateways, telematics devices or industrial equipment into end-to-end IoT systems.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, datasheets and PCB layouts.
• Hands-on debugging with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, serial tools and JTAG/debuggers.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Git, SQL/databases, REST APIs and telemetry/data models.
• Strong systematic troubleshooting and technical documentation/communication skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
• PCB design/review using KiCad, Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle or equivalent.
• Automotive diagnostics, OBD-II, UDS, CAN analysis tools and commercial vehicle telematics.
• Teltonika or equivalent GPS/telematics trackers and fuel-monitoring systems.
• AWS IoT Core/Greengrass, Azure IoT Hub/Edge or equivalent IoT cloud platforms.
• MQTT, TLS, device authentication and secure device-to-cloud communication.
• OTA/FOTA, secure boot, signed firmware or embedded security practices.
• BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa/LoRaWAN and Raspberry Pi/Linux edge systems.
• Docker, CI/CD or automated firmware/device testing.
• Fuel dispensers, fuel-level sensors, RFID, e-locks, pumps/meters or industrial control systems.
• Automotive/industrial reliability: power fluctuations, transients, grounding, EMI/noise and field-environment constraints.
