We are looking for an experienced Audit & Tax Executive to join our professional practice in India.
The ideal candidate should be a Bachelor of Commerce graduate currently working, or having recent experience, with a Chartered Accountancy or professional accounting practice in India. The candidate should have practical exposure to the audit of medium to large companies and be comfortable independently handling audit, taxation and compliance assignments.
The role will primarily involve work for our India practice, covering statutory audits, tax audits, GST and direct taxation. The firm also provides audit back-office and assignment-based support to accounting and audit firms in the UK and US, and the successful candidate may therefore have opportunities to work on selected international assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with and independently handle statutory/company audits of medium and large companies.
Perform audit planning, substantive testing, analytical review and preparation of audit working papers.
Conduct tax audits under the Income-tax Act and assist with preparation of relevant reports and schedules.
Handle GST compliance, including preparation/review of GST returns, reconciliations and related advisory matters.
Assist with Indian direct tax compliance, including preparation of income-tax returns, tax computations and related assignments.
Review trial balances, ledgers, supporting documentation and financial statements.
Identify accounting, taxation and audit issues and discuss them with senior team members and clients.
Assist with preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with applicable Indian accounting and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and ensure assignments are completed within agreed timelines.
Maintain properly documented audit files and working papers in accordance with the firm's methodology.
Support the firm's UK and US audit/accounting assignments on an assignment basis, including preparation of audit working papers and financial analysis where required.
Work effectively across multiple assignments while meeting reporting and compliance deadlines.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate should have:
Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree.
3–4 years of relevant practical experience with a Chartered Accountancy firm, audit firm or professional accounting practice in India.
Current or recent experience working in professional practice, rather than solely in an industry accounting role.
Good practical exposure to statutory/company audits, preferably involving medium to large companies.
Experience in Indian Income Tax, Tax Audit and GST compliance.
Good understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and audit procedures.
Ability to prepare clear, organised and properly referenced audit working papers.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally with clients and work effectively as part of an audit and taxation team.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and work within deadlines.
Preferred / Additional Skills
Exposure to the following would be an advantage, although it is not an essential requirement:
UK accounting and audit assignments.
UK GAAP / FRS 102.
US accounting and audit assignments.
US GAAP.
Audit back-office or outsourced accounting/audit services for overseas accounting firms.
