Data Engineer (SQL, Data Migration, Python)

About the Role
The Data Migration Company (TDMC) is hiring a Data Engineer with strong SQL and enterprise Data Migration experience. You’ll work across structured data environments (primarily telecoms) while contributing to the development of TDMC’s industrialised data‑delivery platform.
We’re looking for someone who is well organised, a strong communicator, and interested in growing into a leadership role as our team expands.
Key Responsibilities
Build and optimise data migration pipelines
Write high-quality SQL for profiling, transformation, and reconciliation
Support cutover readiness, defect triage, and data quality investigations
Contribute to our data-delivery platform development (Python components, QC frameworks, declarative pipelines)
Collaborate with migration leads, analysts, and client stakeholders
Organise delivery tasks, maintain documentation, and structure workflows
Take increasing ownership of components and small workstreams
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years in Data Engineering or Data Migration
Strong SQL (complex joins, window functions, reconciliation logic, performance tuning)
Hands-on enterprise data migration delivery
Working knowledge of Python
Solid data engineering fundamentals
Well organised with strong communication skills
Interest in developing leadership capability
Nice to Have
Telecom BSS/OSS experience
YAML-based declarative pipelines
Experience with one or more data processing engines
Experience with any orchestration or workflow tools
Docker or Linux experience
