About the Role We are looking for an Associate Partner / Manager to join our Tax team, with balanced exposure across Direct Tax and GST practice — spanning litigation, compliance, and advisory. This is a client-facing role requiring the ability to independently handle matters, guide team members, and support client relationships across both tax verticals.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation (DT & IDT)
Represent clients before adjudicating authorities, appellate authorities (CIT(A), ITAT, GST Appellate Authority/Tribunal), and High Courts in both Direct tax and GST matters.
Draft replies to notices, SCNs, DRC-01/DRC-07 responses, appeals, writ petitions, rectification applications, and legal opinions under the Income-tax Act and GST law.
Review responses to audit objections and departmental notices, and recommend a strategy across both direct tax and GST matters.
Compliance
Handle and review direct tax compliances: return filing, TDS/TCS compliance, tax audits, and advance tax computations.
Handle and review GST compliances: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, and related reconciliations.
Maintain compliance tracking systems, ensuring timely filings across both DT and IDT.
Advisory
Provide advisory on transactions, contracts, tax positions and risk areas under both direct tax and GST.
Support structuring, tax due diligence and opinion work as required.
Team & Client Coordination
Act as a day-to-day point of contact for clients on assigned matters.
Guide and review the work of associates, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
Coordinate with Partners on complex matters, escalations, and strategy.
Requirements
Chartered Accountant (CA)/LL.B.
Post-qualification experience with reasonably balanced exposure to both direct tax and GST/Indirect Tax (litigation, compliance, and advisory) in a law firm / CA firm/tax advisory firm.
Ability to independently handle litigation and advisory matters, strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
Good communication and client-handling skills.
