About the Role
Operations & Uptime Maintain and support Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Juniper EX, Cisco Routers, Juniper MX, and firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto PAN‑OS, Cisco ASA/FTD, Juniper SRX, Check Point). Ensure 99.9%+ availability through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.
Responsibilities
Operations & Uptime
Maintain and support Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Juniper EX, Cisco Routers, Juniper MX, and firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto PAN‑OS, Cisco ASA/FTD, Juniper SRX, Check Point).
Ensure 99.9%+ availability through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting
Triage, isolate, and resolve L2/L3 connectivity, security policy, NAT, VPN, HA failover, and performance issues.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Configuration Management
Maintain standardized, secure configurations (hardening baselines, AAA/TACACS+/RADIUS, Syslog, NTP).
Version control for configs; follow change management (ITIL) with rollback plans.
Monitoring & Observability
Implement SNMP/NETCONF/REST APIs, Syslog, NetFlow/sFlow/IPFIX, and platform-specific telemetry.
Define alert thresholds for CPU, memory, interfaces, PSU/temperature, VPN/HA state, and security events.
Security & Compliance
Enforce firewall policies, segmentation (VLANs/VXLAN), micro/macro segmentation standards.
Patch and upgrade devices, validate against compliance benchmarks (e.g., CIS).
Automation & Scripting
Use Python/Ansible (or vendor tools) for backups, audits, bulk changes, and compliance checks.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain network diagrams, IPAM, runbooks, RCA reports, and standards.
Provide training and collaborate across NOC/Infra/Security/Application teams.
