Prompt Engineer

Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Prompt Engineer at Robotics (RBT) TU/e. The Prompt Engineer will design, test, and refine prompts for AI models that support cognitive robotics research and applications, ensuring reliable and interpretable outputs. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with researchers to understand robotic use cases, translating technical requirements into effective prompt structures, and building prompt libraries for different domains and experiments. The role involves analyzing model behavior, documenting best practices, and iteratively improving prompt strategies based on performance metrics and user feedback. The Prompt Engineer will also contribute to guidelines, tutorials, and internal tools that enable the broader team to use AI systems efficiently and responsibly.
Qualifications
Strong skills in prompt design, iteration, and evaluation for large language models and related AI systems.
Experience with applied machine learning or AI, including understanding of model capabilities, limitations, and responsible use.
Ability to translate complex technical and robotics requirements into clear, structured prompts and workflows.
Proficiency in written communication, documentation, and technical writing in English.
Background in computer science, robotics, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent experience).
Comfort working in remote, interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with researchers, engineers, and domain experts.
Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python) for integrating prompts into tools, prototypes, or experiments.
Interest in cognitive robotics, human-robot interaction, and real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, or manufacturing.
