Turing Consulting is seeking a number of versatile and delivery focused Database Administrator with the following skills
Role Summary
Supports the day-to-day administration, availability, security, and performance of the bank's databases. The role executes approved database procedures, resolves operational incidents, and helps protect data integrity across core banking and digital banking platforms.
Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain production, test, and development databases in line with approved standards and procedures.
Monitor database availability, capacity, performance, jobs, alerts, and logs; escalate material risks or recurring issues.
Perform approved database installations, configuration changes, patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
Execute backup, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery activities, including scheduled recovery tests.
Apply database access controls and security configurations; support periodic access reviews and compliance checks.
Troubleshoot database incidents and service requests, document root causes, and support timely service restoration.
Assist with performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and capacity analysis under the guidance of senior staff.
Support database integration with core banking, digital channels, reporting, and other enterprise applications.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, operating procedures, configuration records, and change evidence.
Participate in on-call or after-hours support for planned changes and critical incidents when required.
Coordinate with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, audit, and vendor teams on database-related activities.
Keep technical knowledge current and follow the bank's information security, change management, and operational risk requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
Three to five years of hands-on experience in database administration; banking or financial-services experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of one or more enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent.
Practical experience with database backup and recovery, user and privilege administration, monitoring, patching, and troubleshooting.
Basic understanding of high availability, replication, disaster recovery, database security, and performance tuning.
Ability to write and review SQL scripts and use database administration and monitoring tools.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:
Relevant vendor certification, such as Oracle Database, Microsoft Azure Database, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL certification.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work calmly during service incidents.
Good documentation, communication, teamwork, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
Attention to detail, accountability, and willingness to work within controlled banking procedures.
Ability to prioritize operational tasks and meet agreed service levels.
Authority & Accountability:
Execute routine database administration activities within approved procedures, assigned access rights, and change records.
Recommend corrective actions, tuning opportunities, security improvements, and capacity changes to the Senior DBA or IT - IS Manager.
Escalate critical incidents, security concerns, failed backups, capacity risks, and changes outside delegated authority.
No independent authority to approve major architecture changes, production upgrades, or policy exceptions.
