Company Description The Women in Water Diplomacy Network (WWDN) is a global community of practice that connects water diplomats, decision-makers, and experts working in shared water basins, with a focus on water-insecure and conflict-sensitive regions. Originating in the Nile Basin in 2017, the Network now includes members from Central Asia–Afghanistan, the South Caucasus, Southern Africa, North America, and other regions. WWDN aims to strengthen leadership and influence in transboundary water decision-making, elevate participation in water-related negotiations, and promote cooperative, inclusive water governance. Its work advances equitable, resilient, and sustainable water management as a pathway to global peace, security, and sustainable development. The Network is supported by a broad partnership of international organizations and donors and showcases diverse perspectives from its global community.
Role Description The VP of Leadership Development is a full-time, remote role responsible for designing and advancing leadership development strategies across the Women in Water Diplomacy Network. This position oversees the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of leadership programs, including capacity-building initiatives, mentorship frameworks, and succession planning for emerging and established water leaders. The VP will conduct needs analyses, consult with regional and global partners, and collaborate with the Global Leadership Council to align leadership initiatives with Network priorities and values. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing training curricula and resources, coordinating workshops and virtual learning sessions, monitoring program impact, and ensuring inclusive, gender-responsive approaches to leadership development. The VP also contributes to strategic planning, supports partner engagement, and represents the Network in key forums related to leadership and water diplomacy.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Leadership Development and Succession Planning to design and sustain effective programs for current and emerging leaders.
Candidates should possess skills in Needs Analysis and Consulting to assess capacity gaps and advise Network partners on leadership strategies.
Candidates should possess experience in Training design and delivery, including facilitation of workshops, webinars, and mentoring or coaching initiatives.
Advanced understanding of water governance, diplomacy, peacebuilding, or international development, preferably in transboundary or conflict-sensitive contexts.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, gender-responsive leadership and experience working with diverse, multicultural stakeholder groups.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across regions and organizations in a remote environment.
Proven experience in program management, monitoring and evaluation of capacity-building initiatives, and strategic planning.
Relevant graduate degree in fields such as international relations, public policy, water resources, development studies, organizational development, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
