Vice President of Product Development

Position Summary:
The Vice President of Product Development is responsible for leading the company's end-to-end product development strategy, innovation initiatives, and product execution. This executive leadership role oversees the entire product development lifecycle—from concept and market validation to design, engineering, testing, launch, and continuous improvement. The Vice President partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver innovative, scalable, and customer-focused products that drive business growth and competitive advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Product Leadership
Develop and execute the company's product development strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and long-term growth plans.
Establish product innovation roadmaps and development priorities based on market demand and business goals.
Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and customer needs to guide future product development.
Advise executive leadership on product investment opportunities, innovation strategies, and technology direction.
Product Development Management
Lead the complete product development lifecycle from concept, design, development, testing, launch, and post-launch optimization.
Oversee product architecture, technical feasibility, scalability, quality assurance, and release management.
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer expectations and business requirements.
Define product development standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Innovation & Research
Drive innovation initiatives by evaluating new technologies, market opportunities, and customer feedback.
Promote research and development (R&D) activities to enhance product competitiveness.
Encourage experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous product improvement.
Develop intellectual property and innovation strategies where applicable.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI Design, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams.
Ensure alignment between product strategy, customer requirements, and technical execution.
Support product launches through cross-functional planning and go-to-market coordination.
Facilitate communication among executive stakeholders and development teams.
Performance & Financial Management
Establish KPIs to measure product quality, delivery timelines, development efficiency, customer satisfaction, and revenue contribution.
Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, forecasting, and investment priorities.
Evaluate product portfolio performance and recommend strategic improvements.
Present product development progress and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
Leadership & Organizational Development
Build, mentor, and lead high-performing product development, engineering, and technical leadership teams.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Develop leadership succession plans and talent development initiatives.
Promote Agile development methodologies and continuous improvement practices throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Product Design, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
12+ years of progressive leadership experience in product development, engineering, technology, or product innovation.
Proven success leading enterprise product development organizations and launching successful products.
Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Lean Product Development, DevOps, and product lifecycle management.
Experience managing cross-functional teams across engineering, design, and product organizations.
Excellent strategic thinking, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing product development budgets and investment planning.
Preferred Skills
Experience in fintech, cryptocurrency, blockchain, SaaS, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, enterprise software, or other technology-driven industries.
Expertise with product management and development tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Productboard, or Aha!.
Experience leading global product development teams across multiple regions.
Knowledge of cybersecurity, API development, cloud architecture, and scalable platform design.
Familiarity with product analytics, user research, and customer experience optimization.
Professional certifications such as PMP, CSPO, SAFe, or Scrum certifications are highly desirable.
