Role Description This full-time, on-site Field Service Engineer role is based in Mumbai and involves providing technical support for ophthalmic and related medical equipment at customer locations. The Field Service Engineer will perform installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of equipment, as well as routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards. Daily tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and basic software issues, completing service reports, and coordinating with internal teams for parts, documentation, and escalations. The role requires frequent interaction with customers to explain service work, provide operational guidance, and maintain strong professional relationships. The Field Service Engineer will also help identify recurring issues, suggest improvements, and support training or demonstrations as needed.
Qualifications
Proficiency in field service operations, including on-site equipment installation, commissioning, and service coordination.
Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues in hardware and related systems.
Experience in technical support, including handling service requests, documenting work, and communicating solutions clearly.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance activities, inspections, and performance checks in line with service schedules.
Solid customer service skills, with the ability to manage expectations, provide clear explanations, and build long-term relationships.
Diploma or degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Electronics, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification.
Comfort with using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and basic office software for reporting and documentation.
Willingness to travel within Mumbai and maharashtra regions for on-site visits, with strong time management and organizational skills.
Prior experience in healthcare or medical equipment servicing is an advantage.
