Hybrid is a multidisciplinary design studio based in San Francisco. We create brand identities, campaigns, publications, packaging, digital experiences, and retail and environmental work for organizations with broad cultural reach. Our clients and collaborators have included Nike, Mohawk, Steelcase, Sonos, The North Face, Amazon, Lululemon, Stanford, Dow Jones and the United Nations.
We are a small, collaborative team that values curiosity, strong ideas, exceptional craft, and a willingness to engage deeply in the details. Designers work closely with creative directors and senior leadership and have meaningful opportunities to shape both the concept and execution of the work.
The Role
Hybrid is looking for a mid-level designer with 3 to 5 years of professional experience who can move confidently from big-picture ideas to polished execution. You will develop concepts, build visual systems, present ideas, and carry work through production across a wide range of media and client needs.
This is a hands-on role for a designer who brings a strong point of view while remaining adaptable, collaborative, and responsive to strategy. The right person will be excited by variety, comfortable taking ownership of meaningful design workstreams, and motivated to make every stage of a project stronger.
What You Will Do
Develop original concepts and visual directions across identity, campaign, editorial, packaging, environmental, and digital projects.
Translate strategy, audience needs, and client objectives into distinctive and relevant design ideas.
Build and extend cohesive visual systems across multiple applications, formats, and touchpoints.
Own defined design workstreams from early exploration through refinement, production, and final delivery.
Present and articulate design thinking clearly to internal teams and, when appropriate, clients.
Respond thoughtfully to feedback while continuing to advocate for the quality and integrity of the work.
Collaborate closely with creative directors, designers, strategists, writers, project managers, and external creative partners.
Prepare accurate, production-ready files and coordinate effectively with printers, fabricators, developers, photographers, illustrators, and other vendors.
Manage priorities across multiple projects while maintaining a high level of craft, consistency, and attention to detail.
Contribute ideas, references, and constructive feedback to the broader studio practice, and stay curious about emerging creative tools and technologies.
What You Will Bring
3 to 5 years of professional design experience within a design studio, agency, or strong in-house creative team.
A portfolio demonstrating strong concepts, layout, typography, composition, art direction, and visual system thinking across multiple formats.
Evidence of work that is both strategically grounded and visually ambitious, with the ability to adapt rather than rely on a single aesthetic.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
Experience carrying work from initial concept through production and final delivery.
The ability to communicate design decisions clearly and participate confidently in presentations and critiques.
Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
A collaborative working style, openness to feedback, and a high degree of accountability.
Familiarity with motion, 3D, prototyping, web tools, or other emerging creative technology is a plus.

Location and Schedule
This is a full-time remote position. Candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area are preferred but not required. Working Pacific time zone hours (within reason) required.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary range $85k to $110k pending location and experience
