Senior Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer (SSE)
HFA Structural is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (SSE) to join our team and lead structural engineering projects from design through construction.
In this role, you’ll serve as a technical leader and Engineer of Record (EOR), overseeing project teams, mentoring engineers and designers, and delivering high-quality structural solutions across a variety of building types and project scopes.
What You’ll Do
Lead and supervise structural engineering teams through all phases of design and construction.
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and provide final technical and quality control review.
Manage the analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, wood, cold-formed steel, and masonry structures.
Work closely with Structural Team Leads, Architects, Engineers, and clients to develop practical, high-quality solutions.
Lead projects ranging from ground-up construction and renovations to one-off, prototypical, and distressed/damaged structure assessments.
Mentor and develop junior and experienced engineers and designers.
Communicate directly with clients and support proposals and technical communications as needed.
Help drive quality, constructability, and engineering excellence across projects.
What We’re Looking For
10–20 years of comprehensive structural engineering experience, including project and team leadership.
Active Structural Engineer (SE) license; ability to obtain an SE license in California preferred.
Experience managing projects, staff, clients, and serving as EOR.
Strong technical expertise across multiple structural systems.
Excellent attention to detail, quality mindset, and communication skills.
A collaborative leadership style and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
NCEES Record registration is a plus.
Willingness to obtain licensure in states where HFA performs work.
