FBS Agile Dev Team Member I - Guidewire PolicyCenter

Job Summary
This position works with business stakeholders, solution engineers, product owners, and Agile team members to develop, test, and deploy Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and integration solutions. The role applies entry-level Guidewire development skills, follows established coding and design standards, and delivers reliable working functionality each sprint with frequent support and guidance from senior developers, solution engineers, or architects.
Essential Job Functions
Interprets basic customer and business needs and provides technical input into straightforward application solutions and system design
Codes and configures programs, objects, components, and packaged software using established standards, examples, and guidance
Documents implementation details and performs basic quality checks on code, configuration, related components, test evidence, and supporting documentation
Delivers working functionality incrementally each sprint and makes routine changes to existing code or configuration to meet approved requirements
Performs basic impact assessments across processes, data, applications, and integrations; identifies and raises design risks or dependencies
Partners with the Product Owner and team to confirm that implementation and acceptance tests reflect the intended functionality
Demonstrates understanding of Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development practices and applies them with team guidance
Uses basic data creation tools, reviews automated test results, and follows established development and test automation practices
Supports application implementation, release activities, environment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions with guidance
Takes ownership of assigned deliverables, communicates status and impediments, and completes routine issue resolution in a timely manner
Guidewire Technical Requirements
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in software development, solution engineering, application support, testing, or a related technology field
Exposure to Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, through development, configuration, integration, testing, support, training, or implementation work is preferred
Basic familiarity with PolicyCenter configuration concepts, including product model, business rules, workflows, user interface components, data model extensions, and validation logic
Ability to read and make simple changes to Gosu code, page configuration files, business rules, data model extensions, and basic unit tests with guidance
Basic awareness of PolicyCenter integration concepts such as REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, plugins, batch processes, and enterprise interfaces
Basic knowledge of source control, build processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and environment support practices
Guidewire Cloud, Advanced Product Designer, or Jutro Digital Platform exposure is a plus
Basic property and casualty insurance knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, and common integration touchpoints
Agile Delivery and Collaboration
Writes and refines straightforward user stories with clear technical tasks and accurate acceptance criteria; estimates work using relative sizing with team guidance
Participates in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities
Commits to team PI objectives and sprint goals, communicates progress and impediments, and owns assigned work items
Demonstrates working functionality to Product and Business Owners and supports iteration and PI System Demos
Practices continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps
Actively develops T-shaped skills, participates in Communities of Practice, shares knowledge, and contributes ideas for continuous improvement
Works effectively across development, testing, product, architecture, and business partners to improve flow and transparency

Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including breaking down low-complexity issues, identifying likely root causes, and proposing a reasonable solution with guidance
Ability to collect data and examples, identify meaningful information, and organize the steps needed to address a routine issue
Ownership and accountability for individual deliverables, including timely identification and correction of gaps with support when needed
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, shift between assigned tasks, and maintain focus on team priorities
Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming, declarative concepts, defensive coding, error handling, version control, relational databases, SQL, and integrated development environments
Basic understanding of applications within the assigned domain and the flow of data between internal and external systems
Basic knowledge of insurance concepts, terminology, products, and business processes
Willingness to learn, share knowledge, participate in Communities of Practice, and develop broader cross-functional skills
Education And Certification Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field preferred
Guidewire training or foundational certification is preferred or expected based on assignment needs
