FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Associate Managing Director of Re-entry provides leadership, oversight, and operational support for the University’s re-entry efforts, developing and maintaining an effective process to reconnect withdrawn students with the University, identify barriers to continued education, and support students through re-enrollment. The position provides day-to-day leadership to the Re-entry team, monitors performance and productivity, assists with training and development, and ensures that established University procedures and enrollment expectations are consistently followed.
During the initial development and growth of the Re-entry department, the Associate Managing Director also maintains an active re-entry caseload and personally conducts outreach, interviews, and re-enrollment activities. As the department expands, direct re-enrollment responsibilities are progressively transitioned to Re-entry Coordinators while the Associate Managing Director maintains oversight of team performance, processes, and outcomes. The position is expected to lead by example and demonstrate the same student-centered, responsive, and goal-oriented behaviors expected of the Re-entry team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Re-entry Leadership and Oversight
• Provides day-to-day leadership and direction to the Re-entry team.
• Establishes and maintains consistent expectations for student outreach, follow-up, communication, and re-enrollment activity.
• Monitors team productivity, student contacts, appointments, applications, re-enrollments, and other established performance measures.
• Assists the Vice President of Student Services with the development, implementation, and improvement of Re-entry processes and procedures.
• Ensures the Re-entry team follows University policies, procedures, enrollment requirements, and established communication standards.
• Identifies opportunities to improve the student re-entry experience and increase successful re-enrollment.
• Reviews re-entry data and trends to identify areas requiring additional outreach, training, or process improvement.
• Provides regular updates and reports to the Vice President of Student Services regarding team activity, student engagement, challenges, and re-enrollment results.
• Assists with developing departmental goals and strategies for increasing student re-entry and retention.
2. Student Outreach and Re-enrollment
• Personally conducts outreach to withdrawn students through phone, text, Zoom, email, social media, and other approved communication methods.
• Takes incoming calls and responds promptly to students seeking information about returning to the University.
• Interviews withdrawn students to understand their reasons for withdrawal, motivation for returning, educational and career goals, and barriers that may prevent them from re-enrolling.
• Develops an understanding of each student’s individual circumstances and identifies appropriate resources or solutions to assist with their return.
• Helps students identify the degree program and educational pathway that best aligns with their goals and circumstances.
• Guides withdrawn students through the complete readmission and re-enrollment process.
• Answers questions related to returning to the University and connects students with the appropriate departments, including Financial Services/Financial Aid and Academic Advising.
• Assists students with gathering required documentation and completing necessary steps for re-enrollment.
• Maintains consistent follow-up with prospective returning students until the re-enrollment process is completed or the student indicates they are no longer interested.
• Maintains an active caseload of withdrawn students and continues direct student re-enrollment responsibilities until sufficient Re-entry staffing is established.
3. Team Development and Support
• Assists with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing Re-entry Coordinators as the department expands.
• Provides ongoing coaching and support to Re-entry Coordinators regarding outreach techniques, student conversations, follow-up, and re-enrollment procedures.
• Monitors team members’ progress toward established goals and provides feedback when performance does not meet expectations.
• Identifies training needs and coordinates additional training as necessary.
• Promotes consistent communication and collaboration within the Re-entry team and with other Student Services departments.
• Serves as a resource for Re-entry Coordinators when complex student situations or enrollment barriers arise.
• Helps establish and maintain standardized procedures, scripts, resources, and best practices for the Re-entry department.
4. Cross-Departmental Collaboration
• Works closely with Academic Advising, Financial Services/Financial Aid, Enrollment, the Registrar, and other University departments to facilitate successful student re-entry.
• Ensures that students are appropriately connected with the departments and resources necessary to complete the re-enrollment process.
• Communicates student needs, recurring barriers, and process concerns to appropriate University leadership.
• Supports a student-centered approach throughout the re-entry and re-enrollment process.
5. Administrative Responsibilities
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student outreach and re-entry activity within Anthology and other University systems.
• Monitors and ensures appropriate follow-up of re-entry leads and withdrawn students.
• Prepares and reviews departmental reports related to re-entry activity and student re-enrollment.
• Assists the Vice President of Student Services with departmental projects, initiatives, and special assignments.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and complies with University policies and applicable regulations.
6. Performs any other duties as assigned by leadership.

13. Ability to build positive relationships with withdrawn students and successfully guide them toward re-enrollment.
Education and Experience Requirements
1. At minimum, an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
2. Previous experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment, re-entry, student services, or a related higher education environment.
3. Previous supervisory, team leadership, or management experience is preferred.
4. Experience with Anthology is preferred.

4. Occasional travel (as needed) to campus locations or conferences.
