Role Description The Divorce Advisor (Coach) is a part-time, remote role responsible for guiding employees through the divorce process with clear, structured support. On a day-to-day basis, the advisor conducts confidential coaching sessions, helps clients understand legal and financial considerations, and aids in preparing for meetings with attorneys and other professionals. The role involves assessing each client’s situation, identifying key decision points, and offering strategic options that reduce unnecessary conflict, delay, and expense. The advisor will use MDA’s frameworks and resources to help clients set priorities, manage documentation, and stay focused at work while addressing personal challenges. This role also includes maintaining accurate case notes, collaborating with other expert advisors when needed, and contributing feedback to improve MDA’s tools and educational content.
Qualifications
Strong coaching and advisory skills, with experience supporting individuals through high-stress life transitions such as divorce, separation, or major family changes.
Solid understanding of divorce-related processes (legal, financial, and practical), with the ability to explain complex topics in clear, accessible language; prior work with family law professionals or financial planners is a plus.
Excellent communication, active listening, and empathy, including the ability to build trust, maintain strict confidentiality, and support diverse clients without judgment.
Well-developed organizational and analytical skills, including structured problem-solving, documentation management, and the ability to track multiple client cases efficiently.
Comfort with remote work tools and digital platforms for video calls, scheduling, and secure record-keeping; ability to work independently and manage a flexible, part-time schedule.
Relevant education or professional background in coaching, counseling, social work, HR, family law, or a related field; certifications in coaching or mediation are advantageous.
