Senior System Engineer

Green Threads, LLC is a government contracting company delivering enterprise API/integration, identity and access management, cloud modernization, and DevSecOps services to federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior System Engineer will design, develop, integrate, and support cloud-based applications and automation solutions using Microsoft and Azure technologies. The role combines full-stack development, Power Platform engineering, CI/CD, secure API development, containerization, and emerging AI capabilities. The engineer will work in an Agile Scrum environment and collaborate closely with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain cloud-based applications using .NET, Power Platform, Dataverse, and related Microsoft technologies.
Implement and integrate automation frameworks across Azure and Power Platform ecosystems to improve performance and scalability.
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
Create, test, and manage Power Platform connectors and custom APIs for seamless data and process integration.
Deploy and manage containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
Contribute to AI-driven initiatives using technologies such as Copilot Studio, Agentic AI, and AI agent orchestration, including AWS Bedrock.
Conduct code reviews, implement testing strategies, and follow secure coding practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and support compliance with security standards.
Work within an Agile Scrum environment, managing tickets and deliverables through Rally and communicating clearly with team members and stakeholders.
Support documentation, version control, and configuration management for development and deployment activities.
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with Azure Cloud Services and cloud-based solution development.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Stack technologies, including .NET, Power Platform, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and Application Insights (AppInsights).
Full-stack development experience using .NET and Java for web and service-based applications.
Experience building secure REST APIs using OAuth/OIDC protocols.
Strong experience with Azure App Registrations and Managed Identities for authentication and authorization.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and/or Azure DevOps.
Hands-on experience with automation frameworks, including Power Platform and Azure Automation.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
Understanding of automated testing and quality assurance practices.
Excellent communication and articulation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly in collaborative Agile environments.
SUITABILITY AND SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain IRS staff-like access prior to beginning work. To qualify, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (proof of Alien Registration Number required if foreign-born).
Compliance with Selective Service registration requirements, where applicable.
A favorable Personnel Security suitability/eligibility determination, including a federal tax compliance check, background investigation, credit history review, and FBI fingerprint results.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of AI-driven frameworks, including Copilot Studio, Agentic AI, Databricks Genie, or AI agent orchestration such as AWS Bedrock.
Familiarity with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies and their application in secure system design.
Awareness of federal compliance standards such as FedRAMP or NIST 800-53.
