Backend Developer - Rust

Insight Global is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for a leading advertising technology company. This individual will help design, build, and optimize scalable backend applications and services that support high-volume digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is a strong Rust developer with experience building APIs, cloud-native applications, and database-driven systems. This person should be comfortable owning projects from design through deployment while working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Rust
Build and integrate RESTful APIs supporting internal and external applications
Design scalable server-side systems and cloud-based solutions
Develop and optimize database solutions using MySQL and PostgreSQL
Translate business requirements into technical solutions
Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance
Reduce technical debt and enhance code quality and maintainability
Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams throughout the development lifecycle
Contribute to architecture discussions and technology decisions
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of professional experience developing web applications with Rust
Expert-level Rust programming knowledge
2+ years of experience building and integrating RESTful APIs
Strong server-side development experience
Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and database design
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles
Experience developing and deploying cloud-based applications (AWS preferred)
Experience utilizing AI tools within the software development process
Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
AdTech, MarTech, or digital media industry experience
Experience designing application, component, and data architectures
Performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization experience
Experience evaluating third-party products and making buy-versus-build recommendations
Experience reducing technical debt and improving engineering processes
Exposure to distributed systems, microservices, or high-scale applications
