High Horse Power/Marine Field Service Diesel Technician

Job Summary:
Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site.
We are looking for a talented High Horse Power/Marine Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Kapolei, HI).

Will make an impact in the following ways:
Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
Maintain own tools
Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on high horsepower marine diesel engines.
Troubleshoot engine, fuel, cooling, air handling, electrical, and aftertreatment systems.
Complete engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements.
Perform vessel inspections and provide recommendations for repair and maintenance.
Utilize electronic diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical documentation.
Inspect and repair marine propulsion and auxiliary systems.
Prepare detailed service reports and document all work performed.
Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams.
Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following company safety policies and marine industry regulations.
Travel to customer locations, shipyards, docks, and neighboring islands as required.
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- 3 years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
- Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Significant field service work experience
Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Customer service experience
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
Completes complex internal engine repairs
Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
