sync. labs builds AI-powered lip-sync technology that helps stories reach audiences across languages. Through sync. productions, we work with studios on visual dubbing and localization, aligning on-screen performances with dubbed dialogue while preserving the expression and intent of the original performance.
The role
We’re growing our productions QC team and looking for a specialist with a strong eye for natural lip-sync, experience in dubbing or localization, and the VFX knowledge to spot subtle visual defects. This hands-on review role focuses on lip-sync accuracy, visual quality, and consistency. You’ll collaborate with production and creative teams to identify issues, communicate clear feedback, and ensure content meets project standards.
What you’ll do
• Review visual dubbing and localized content for accurate lip-sync, natural facial movement, and preservation of the original performance.
• Identify visual artifacts, compositing issues, and inconsistencies in image quality or continuity.
• Document quality issues in clear, actionable QC reports with accurate timecode references, and maintain up-to-date review records.
• Verify that revisions resolve reported issues and meet project standards. Escalate unresolved defects or delivery risks promptly.
• Verify that review materials and deliverables match project specifications, and flag missing or incorrect assets.
• Apply project-specific quality standards consistently, distinguishing technical defects and sync errors from subjective creative preferences.
• Identify recurring quality issues and contribute to improvements in QC standards and practices.
What we’re looking for
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in media QC, post-production, dubbing, localization, or VFX, with direct experience evaluating lip-sync in finished or in-progress content.
• Strong judgment of natural speech and facial movement. You can identify subtle sync errors and unnatural mouth motion, then explain precisely what is wrong.
• Working understanding of compositing artifacts, color consistency, image texture, and temporal continuity, alongside confident use of frame-accurate video review tools.
• Clear, concise written communication and experience with timecode-based reporting, version control, and structured QC documentation.
• Concentration and consistency to review large volumes of content, prioritize important defects, and maintain quality under tight deadlines.
• Ability to learn new review tools, collaborate with a distributed team, and handle confidential studio content responsibly.
Nice to have
• Experience reviewing AI-assisted or visually modified content.
• Experience with studio localization, mastering, IMF QC, or final delivery QC.
• Familiarity with RV, DaVinci Resolve, Frame.io, ShotGrid, or other media review and QC systems.
• Familiarity with UHD/4K, HDR, codecs, and professional delivery formats.
• Experience developing QC standards or reporting workflows and reducing repeated defects.
