I’m working with a well-backed global product company used by millions of designers and developers worldwide on a new Head of Growth hire. This is not a traditional Head of Marketing role.
The mandate is to own user growth across the business from registered users, MAU, activation, retention and the full set of growth levers that move those numbers.
You’ll inherit an existing marketing function, but the goal is to turn growth into a much more deliberate operating system: clearer metrics, faster experimentation, stronger product-led growth, better channel discipline and a team that ships every week.
What you’ll own
Own the company growth number across registrations, MAU, activation and retention
Build a clear growth dashboard and weekly operating rhythm
Lead experimentation across product, lifecycle, SEO/AEO, organic, community and paid
Partner closely with Product and Engineering on onboarding, activation and first-success journeys
Shape positioning and launch strategy across a growing product portfolio
Protect strong existing organic acquisition while building the next growth engines
Own paid and organic as one system, with a strong focus on efficiency and quality
Build and lead a small, high-performing growth and marketing team
Hire capability gaps across growth, product marketing and adjacent functions
Create a culture of testing, learning, killing weak ideas quickly and scaling what works
What we’re looking for
8–12+ years across growth and/or marketing leadership
Strong background in PLG SaaS, design tools, creative platforms, developer products or similarly product-led businesses
Clear evidence of user growth you personally owned and moved
Deep understanding of registration, activation, retention, MAU and funnel performance
Strong experimentation mindset, comfortable forming hypotheses, testing quickly and making decisions from data
Experience across SEO / organic, lifecycle, paid acquisition and product-led growth
Hands-on enough to read analytics, challenge a landing page, rewrite a brief and kill a poor-performing channel
Strong product and engineering partnership
Experience building and leading a small multidisciplinary team
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, highly autonomous environment
Particularly relevant background and experience from companies in areas such as:
design tools, creative software, developer tools, AI-native products, PLG SaaS, creator platforms or self-serve global products would be especially relevant.
