About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

WHO WE ARE
Whether in your home, office, or out in your community, the walls that surround you must be safe, structurally sound, and sustainable. It’s our job to make that happen.
We were created by an act of Congress in 1974 to be the nation’s authoritative source of findings and recommendations that impact and improve the built environment for the American people. At the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), we connect research, policy, and practical application to advance innovation in the built environment. Our mission is to create a safer, more resilient, and technologically advanced infrastructure that serves American communities and strengthens our nation’s future.
Building American Innovation isn’t just our tagline - it’s our commitment. We foster collaboration between government, industry, and academia to drive forward-thinking strategies for resilient communities. Because at NIBS, we don’t just build structures, we build solutions.
SUMMARY
Help Shape the Digital Future of America’s Built Environment!
We are seeking a Web Content and Criteria Administrator to support the Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG), the nation’s only online portal bringing together comprehensive building guidance, current federal facility criteria, emerging technologies, and workforce development resources. Used by architects, engineers, construction professionals, facility managers, federal agencies, educators, and students; the WBDG makes authoritative knowledge easier to find, understand, and apply. By helping maintain and improve this nationally important resource, you will support the professionals responsible for creating safer, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and innovative facilities that advance national defense, public safety, healthcare, education, government operations, and communities across the United States.
The Web Content and Criteria Administrator for the WBDG advances the digital content and technical criteria NIBS shares with the building industry. Working at the intersection of digital content, federal criteria, technology, knowledge management, and public service, this position:
curates online resources
manages criteria inventories
provides editorial and coding support
edits images
reviews and processes technical documents
supports agency and partner web initiatives
coordinates with clients and contractors
produces project reports.
More than maintaining a website, you will help strengthen a trusted national knowledge platform that connects government, industry, research, and education while giving America’s building professionals reliable information to make better decisions.

Work with contract stakeholders to review, update, and process criteria for online posting.

Work closely with outside contractors to update and improve website functionality.
Assist with producing documentation and reporting on contracts, tasks, and web projects.
Serve as primary client liaison, maintaining professional communication and transparent reporting.
Oversee knowledge management practices: maintain project files, ensure accessibility of content, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Represent NIBS at bi-annual working group meetings and annual working group workshop.
Self-manage workloads and proactively coordinate with supervisor on concerns related to workload.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
Able to be granted or to obtain at a minimum a Secret security clearance throughout the period of employment. This will be applied for and granted when project needs dictate.
