Certified Medical Coder (REMOTE)

HirePower Personnel is seeking two experienced Certified Medical Coders - Outpatient to join a leading healthcare organization serving New York communities. The Certified Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding outpatient medical records, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, and facility coding guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring strong outpatient coding expertise, Emergency Department coding experience, and a solid understanding of inpatient coding principles.
What You'll Do
Perform medical coding within an acute care setting
Assign accurate codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, and encoder software
Apply federal, payer, and facility-specific coding guidelines
Review and interpret medical documentation for coding accuracy
Research and resolve coding-related issues
Support coding quality improvement initiatives
Assist with coder training and knowledge sharing as needed
Maintain compliance with industry regulations and coding standards
What We Need
Minimum 3 years of outpatient coding experience
Emergency Department (ED) coding experience required
Strong inpatient coding background
Experience using 3M coding software
Ability to work independently with minimal training
Strong knowledge of:
ICD-10-CM/PCS
CPT-4 coding
Federal billing guidelines
Payer-specific coding requirements
Anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required
One of the following certifications required:
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) , CCP , RHIA, RHIT
Certifications must be from AHIMA or equivalent recognized credentialing organizations
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Candidates must be comfortable working one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) as needed.
