Expression of Interest: Board Directors and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee Members

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from people who are passionate about helping shape the future of an Indigenous-led organisation advancing positive intergenerational change through Indigenous Knowledge Systems and practices across Australia and beyond.
We invite suitably qualified and experienced people to express their interest in becoming:
Non-Executive Board Director — to join the Living Knowledge Network Board of Directors.
Committee Member — to join the Living Knowledge Network Board’s Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee, either as an existing or incoming Director or as a skilled independent (non-Director) member.
Board Directors
We are seeking Directors who bring a genuine and active commitment to Indigenous self-determination and Traditional Indigenous Land Management, along with the skills and experience to support the Living Knowledge Network’s sustainable growth.
In particular, we welcome interest from people who can offer experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Organisational strategy and governance expertise. Experience in Cultural and/or not-for-profit governance would be desirable, though not essential.
Finance, risk management, legal or regulatory compliance.
Traditional Indigenous Land Management, culture, and/or practical Community-led innovation that supports self-determined futures.
Fundraising or philanthropy, including strategic partnerships.
The ideal candidate will also have at least three years’ experience as a non-executive director or senior leader within a not-for-profit organisation and demonstrate the following qualities:
Strong alignment with the Living Knowledge Network’s vision.
Willingness to contribute to, or lead, a Board subcommittee.
A passion for Indigenous-led self-determination, innovation and solutions.
Practical, collaborative, solution-focused and a critical thinker.

Finance, Audit and Risk Committee Members
The Living Knowledge Network Board is also seeking suitably qualified independent members to join its Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee. The FAR Committee supports the Board’s oversight of financial sustainability, risk management, compliance and internal controls.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced finance, audit or risk professionals who wish to contribute their skills to an Indigenous-led organisation without necessarily taking on a full Board Director role.
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
Qualifications and experience as an accountant, auditor or finance professional (CA/CPA or equivalent).
Experience in risk management, internal controls or not-for-profit financial oversight.
Familiarity with grant-funded and philanthropic organisations, and experience supporting mixed-revenue models and financial sustainability strategies.
An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, CATSI Act and ORIC compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate will also have at least two years’ experience as a non-executive director, board committee member or senior leader within a not-for-profit organisation, together with the expertise required to support the Committee’s work.
