Chief Investment Officer (CIO) — Investment/Asset Management Context

Job Summary
The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) provides executive leadership for the organization's investment strategy, portfolio management, asset allocation, investment research, and investment risk management. The role is responsible for managing investment portfolios in accordance with the organization's risk appetite, investment objectives, liquidity requirements, and long-term return expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the Group's overall investment strategy and investment policy.
Lead strategic asset allocation across equities, fixed income, alternatives, private markets, real estate, and other asset classes.
Oversee portfolio construction, investment selection, diversification, and performance.
Lead investment research and market analysis to support investment decisions.
Establish portfolio benchmarks, performance objectives, and investment guidelines.
Monitor portfolio performance, attribution, liquidity, concentration, and risk.
Lead the Investment Committee and provide investment recommendations to the Board and senior leadership.
Oversee internal investment teams and external fund/asset managers.
Conduct due diligence and oversee manager selection, monitoring, and evaluation.
Ensure investment activities comply with regulatory requirements, mandates, and internal investment policies.
Integrate risk management, ESG considerations, and governance into investment decision-making where applicable.
Manage relationships with fund managers, banks, brokers, investment advisors, custodians, and other capital-market participants.
Support strategic investments, M&A, private equity, and other corporate investment opportunities.
Ensure appropriate liquidity and asset-liability alignment, particularly within insurance organizations.
Present portfolio performance, market outlook, investment risks, and strategic recommendations to the CEO, Board, and Investment Committee.
Lead, mentor, and develop senior investment professionals.
Ideal Candidate Profile
15+ years of investment, asset management, portfolio management, or capital-markets experience.
Significant senior leadership experience in Asset Management, Investment Management, Insurance Investments, Pension Funds, Sovereign/Institutional Investment, Private Equity, or Wealth Management.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing investment strategy and strategic asset allocation.
Strong portfolio management and investment research background.
Experience managing significant institutional investment portfolios.
Strong understanding of equities, fixed income, alternatives, private markets, derivatives, and other investment products.
Strong knowledge of investment risk, portfolio construction, performance attribution, and capital markets.
Experience working with Investment Committees, Boards, regulators, and senior executives.
CFA or equivalent investment/finance qualification strongly preferred.
