Role Description The Lead R&D Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for driving the research, design, and development of innovative medical devices and related technologies. This position leads cross-functional R&D projects from concept through validation, coordinating with design, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure products meet user needs and compliance requirements. Day-to-day activities include defining technical requirements, planning and executing experiments, analyzing data, overseeing testing protocols, and translating insights into robust product designs. The Lead R&D Engineer mentors other engineers, supports continuous improvement of R&D processes, and contributes to strategic decisions on product roadmaps. The role requires strong collaboration, clear technical communication, and a commitment to Hollister’s mission and principles.
Qualifications
Strong Analytical Skills to interpret complex data, solve technical problems, and make evidence-based design decisions.
Demonstrated expertise in Research and Development (R&D) and Product Development, including leading projects from concept to launch.
Hands-on experience with Testing and Research, including experimental design, validation, and documentation of medical or technical products.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (e.g., biomedical, mechanical, materials, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
Experience in medical devices or regulated healthcare products, with familiarity with quality systems and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, FDA, CE).
Proficiency in design tools, statistical analysis, and technical documentation; ability to write clear reports and specifications.
Proven leadership and project management skills, including mentoring team members and coordinating cross-functional initiatives in a remote environment.
Strong communication skills, collaborative working style, and alignment with Hollister’s values of dignity, integrity, service, and stewardship.
