DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Enginee

Role Description The DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Engineer role is a part-time, remote position focused on supporting the technical infrastructure behind Global Affairs Daily’s online platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining and optimizing deployment pipelines, assisting with infrastructure as code implementation, and supporting system administration tasks in a Linux-based environment. The role also involves contributing to application development, troubleshooting performance or reliability issues, and collaborating with content and editorial teams to ensure the platform runs smoothly. The individual in this role will help improve automation, monitor system health, and enhance overall reliability and security of the site.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Continuous Integration for automating deployments and streamlining development workflows.
Candidates should possess skills in Software Development to contribute to application features, fix bugs, and improve platform performance.
Candidates should possess skills in System Administration and Linux to manage servers, monitor system health, and ensure secure, reliable operations.
Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar) is beneficial.
Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and clear written communication skills are required.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate effectively with distributed teams is expected.
A background in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
