Role Description The VP of Engineering – BioTech will provide strategic and hands-on leadership for engineering initiatives that support CytoCync’s regulated healthcare clients. This contract, remote role is responsible for overseeing software development in compliance-aware environments, guiding architecture decisions, and ensuring delivery practices align with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and mentoring engineering teams, collaborating with product leadership to shape technical roadmaps, and coordinating cross-functional efforts with compliance, security, and operations stakeholders. The VP will establish engineering standards, optimize development workflows, and monitor project execution to ensure predictable timelines, clear ownership, and high-quality outcomes. This role also involves partnering with client teams to understand their risk profile, translating those needs into scalable technical solutions, and continuously improving CytoCync’s platform and services model.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to guide distributed technical teams and build a high-performance culture.
Candidates should possess deep Software Development experience, including modern technology stacks, secure coding practices, and scalable architecture design.
Candidates should possess solid Project Management capabilities to oversee complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes.
Candidates should possess Product Development skills, including collaboration with product, compliance, and business stakeholders to shape strategy and roadmaps.
Experience leading engineering in regulated healthcare, biotech, or medtech environments with familiarity in HIPAA and related compliance frameworks.
Proven track record in building and scaling remote engineering organizations, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business and regulatory implications.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
