Role Description The Senior Azure Data Engineer (US citizen) will design, build, and maintain robust data solutions on Microsoft Azure to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. This contract, remote role involves developing and optimizing scalable data pipelines, implementing ETL processes, and integrating data from multiple sources into secure, reliable data platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and refining data models, collaborating with architects and business stakeholders to define data requirements, and ensuring data quality, performance, and security across Azure services. The engineer will also support data warehousing and analytics workloads, troubleshoot issues in production environments, and contribute to best practices, documentation, and standards for the data engineering team.
Qualifications
Strong Data Engineering skills, including building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines and workflows in Azure.
Proficiency in Data Modeling and Data Warehousing for analytical and reporting solutions.
Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools for integrating data from diverse sources.
Experience in Data Analytics, including enabling dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics.
Deep knowledge of Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob/Data Lake Storage).
Strong skills in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (such as Python or Scala).
Background in performance optimization, data quality, data governance, and security best practices in cloud environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience in a senior or lead data engineering role, preferably in cloud-based or Azure-centric environments.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate effectively with distributed teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
US citizenship required for this role; experience working with clients that have compliance or regulatory requirements is a plus.
