We are looking for you, effective immediately, in full-time (part-time possible upon request) as: GIS Specialist / Geospatial Data Manager (m/f/d) for the Department of Urban and Landscape Planning. Your Responsibilities Develop maps, databases, and WebGIS applications using ArcGIS and QGIS, as well as land-use planning documents using AutoCAD and WS LandCad for urban and landscape planning studies and projects. Maintain existing geodatabases, create new datasets, and convert geospatial data for interoperability with INSPIRE and XPlanung standards. Conceptualize, implement, and continuously develop the city planning office’s GIS infrastructure toward a digital twin—collaborating with other geospatial departments (e.g., the Lower Saxony Office of Geoinformation and Surveying, and the district authority). Analyze geospatial data, model spatial relationships, and perform database queries. Administer GIS software (currently QGIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and WS LandCad) in coordination with central IT and other departments using GIS tools. Adapt GIS applications to technological advancements (e.g., Digital Twin, 3D modeling) and introduce new specialized tools as needed. Prepare and provide geospatial data and maps for third parties (citizens, municipalities, public authorities), including GIS coordination and interface management for the district-wide WebGIS platform. Your Qualifications Completed university degree in Geoinformatics or a comparable program with in-depth expertise in geoinformation systems and relevant professional experience. Solid knowledge in digital twins, geospatial infrastructures, urban geoplatforms, and AutoCAD applications. Familiarity with geospatial standards and open-source GIS tools (e.g., GeoServer, QGIS). Strong understanding of interdisciplinary planning issues, technical aptitude, and experience with standard project management methodologies. Native or near-native proficiency in German (C2 level), with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
