Job Description
Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Experience: 5–10 Years

Location: South India
Reporting To: Project Manager / Engineering Head
Responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing mechanical installation and site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and as per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute mechanical installation and site activities as per approved drawings and project schedules.
Supervise mechanical works including equipment installation, piping, ducting, structural supports, fabrication, HVAC, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, civil, electrical, and other internal teams for smooth project execution.
Review and interpret mechanical drawings, layouts, P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
Monitor manpower, materials, tools, tackles, and equipment required for site execution.
Ensure mechanical installation works are carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections and monitor the progress and quality of mechanical works.
Coordinate equipment positioning, alignment, levelling, installation, and commissioning activities.
Supervise fabrication, erection, piping, supports, and equipment installation activities.
Identify site constraints, technical issues, and deviations and coordinate with the concerned teams for timely resolution.
Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams for equipment installation and commissioning requirements.
Monitor contractor performance, manpower deployment, productivity, and work quality.
Ensure timely availability of mechanical materials and coordinate with procurement and stores teams.
Verify material quantities, consumption, measurements, and contractor bills as required.
Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and maintain site documentation.
Ensure proper closure of punch points and completion of testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Coordinate preparation and submission of as-built drawings, inspection reports, test reports, and other project documents.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, work permits, and site EHS standards.
Participate in project review meetings and provide updates on progress, delays, resource requirements, and technical issues.
Support troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical installation and execution-related problems.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of mechanical site execution and project management.
Good understanding of mechanical equipment installation, piping, fabrication, erection, HVAC, pumps, compressors, utility systems, and related mechanical works.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, GA drawings, isometric drawings, and technical specifications.
Knowledge of equipment alignment, levelling, installation, testing, and commissioning.
Experience in contractor management and site supervision.
Knowledge of mechanical safety practices and applicable engineering standards.
Good knowledge of MS Office; AutoCAD knowledge will be an added advantage.
Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage site activities effectively.
Education
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Experience
5–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical site execution/project execution, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, engineering, or construction environment.
