Senior Software Engineer

Cohesity is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer IV to lead the design ,development, and evolution of secure, scalable, and highly available Helios Control Plane services. This role plays a key part in advancing the next generation of platform capabilities that enable customers and strategic partners to efficiently manage, automate, and govern their environments at scale.
As a senior technical leader, you will be working with architecture, influence platform strategy, and drive execution across engineering teams. You will partner closely with architects, product management, customer success, and field organizations to solve complex distributed systems challenges involving tenant isolation, scalability, security, governance, automation, and operational excellence. Beyond delivering technology, you will shape the long-term vision of Helios services and mentor engineers across the organization.
How You'll Spend Your Time Here
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and execution strategy for Helios services, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
Partner with Architects and Principal Engineers to establish platform standards, reference architectures, and engineering best practices.
Lead the design and development of critical platform capabilities that support large-scale enterprise and service provider deployments.
Influence architectural decisions across multiple teams and drive alignment on long-term platform evolution.
Engineering Excellence
Drive the execution of strategic technical initiatives and ensure successful delivery of roadmap commitments.
Participate in and lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical deep dives for complex distributed systems.
Establish and enforce engineering best practices for code quality, security, observability, performance, and maintainability.
Conduct in-depth code and design reviews, ensuring solutions meet enterprise-grade quality and scalability requirements.
Champion automation, platform efficiency, and operational excellence throughout the software development lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Influence
Collaborate with multiple team , Product Management, Customer Success, Architecture, Security, and Partner Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Act as a key technical stakeholder in strategic customer and partner engagements, executive reviews, design workshops, and proof-of-concept initiatives
Influence product strategy and roadmap based on customer feedback, field insights, and emerging industry trends.
What You'll Bring Along
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering large-scale software systems and distributed applications.
Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Java, Go, Python, or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB, with a solid understanding of database design, optimization, scalability, and performance tuning.
Experience leveraging AI-powered engineering tools and developer productivity platforms for software design, code generation, testing, debugging, code reviews, and operational efficiency.
Proven experience in designing scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software architectures.
Deep understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and system design.
Experience with cloud-native technologies, microservices architectures, APIs, and distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, CI/CD practices, and operational excellence.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives from design through delivery.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and execution for large-scale engineering initiatives
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
Experience with observability, monitoring, automation, and site reliability engineering practices.
Prior experience in Data protection / Backup solution would be added advantage
