AI/ML responsibilities
1. Research & Development of Route Intelligence
* Research algorithms, papers, existing systems and technologies for intelligent routing, optimization, ETA prediction and logistics intelligence.
* They should be expected to investigate and prototype things they have not previously built.
2. Build the Route Intelligence Engine
* Develop the core system that receives origin, destination, vehicle profile, constraints and objectives and produces optimized routes and alternatives.
3. Develop ETA & Travel-Time Prediction
* Build models that estimate travel duration and arrival time using traffic, historical trips, road conditions and other available data.
4. Develop Traffic & Geospatial Intelligence
* Work with road-network data, map matching, geographic data, traffic information and location normalization.
* The PRD specifically separates this into geospatial and traffic intelligence layers.
5. Build Route Scoring & Recommendation Systems
* Develop methods for comparing candidate routes based on travel time, reliability, traffic, distance, constraints and enterprise preferences.
* The system should ultimately explain why a route was recommended, rather than simply returning a route.
6. Develop Predictive Logistics Intelligence
* Research and eventually build predictive ETA, route reliability, delay-risk prediction, anomaly detection and dynamic route recommendations.
* These are explicitly identified as future intelligence layers in the PRD.
7. Design the Data & Machine-Learning Pipeline
* Determine what data Yspace needs to collect, clean and structure.
* Build pipelines for historical routes, predicted vs. actual travel times, traffic conditions and route outcomes so models can continuously improve.
8. Experiment, Prototype & Validate
* Build experimental models and prototypes before production implementation.
* Benchmark Yspace’s approach against existing routing providers and algorithms, measure accuracy/latency, run simulations and document what works and what doesn’t.
9. Integrate External Routing/Map Technologies
* Research and integrate providers such as mapping, traffic and routing infrastructure where appropriate.
* The PRD specifically recommends using third-party infrastructure initially rather than attempting to build the entire global road network from scratch.
10. Own the Evolution of Yspace Intelligence
* Continuously research new approaches in AI, optimization, geospatial computing and autonomous logistics.
* Turn successful research into production systems and progressively move Yspace from foundational routing → routing intelligence → data collection → predictive intelligence → autonomous recommendations.
