Cybersecurity Intern

Role Description This is a remote internship role for a Cybersecurity Intern. The intern will support the cybersecurity team in monitoring systems, reviewing security logs, and assisting in identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities. Daily tasks may include helping with basic application and network security assessments, documenting findings, and contributing to incident response activities under supervision. The intern will also assist with information security policy reviews, research emerging cyber risks, and participate in awareness initiatives and training materials. This role is designed to provide practical exposure to real-world cybersecurity practices in an academic and research-oriented environment.
Qualifications
Foundational understanding of Cybersecurity and Cyber concepts, including common threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
Knowledge of Network Security principles such as firewalls, VPNs, secure protocols, and basic network monitoring.
Interest or experience in Application Security, including secure coding practices and basic familiarity with web or mobile application vulnerabilities.
Awareness of Information Security standards, data protection principles, and security policies and procedures.
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Ability to learn quickly, follow documented processes, and work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
Familiarity with security tools (e.g., vulnerability scanners, SIEM, packet analyzers) and basic scripting or programming skills is an advantage.
