Senior Software Engineer

At Workdesk Technologies, we build next-generation enterprise AI infrastructure. Our flagship platform, Vartalaap.io, powers real-time conversational AI workflows across chat and voice channels.
We are searching for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale distributed backend microservices capable of handling millions of low-latency interactions.
Key Responsibilities :
Architect Distributed Microservices: Design and build high-throughput backend services using Node.js and Express.js.
Manage High-Scale Storage: Implement and optimize data layer operations using distributed databases, including Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus).
Build Real-Time Pipelines: Engineer low-latency event-driven systems, asynchronous queues, and real-time messaging workflows.
Manage Cloud Deployments: Deploy containerized workloads on AWS using Docker and ECS/Kubernetes via GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Drive Performance & Reliability: Optimize backend code, execute system tuning, and ensure high availability and observability across all production services.
Required Technical Skills
5–6+ years of core backend development experience with strong Node.js/Express.js expertise.
Hands-on experience with high-scale data systems, including NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB), Relational (PostgreSQL), and Vector Databases for AI indexing/retrieval.
Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, message queues, and async processing.
Strong experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and container runtime platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS).
Proven track record in API architectural design, system performance tuning, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
Nice-to-Have
Experience building real-time platforms (WebSockets, Voice, WebRTC, or Chat platforms).
Exposure to LLM orchestration layers, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) using Vector DBs, caching strategies (Redis), or event streaming engines.
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, DPDP, ISO, AES).
