RoomReview is building a platform designed to make renting more transparent by giving tenants a place to share real experiences about properties and areas.
Our mission is simple: help people make better rental decisions through real experiences and data.
We are now looking for an experienced CTO / Technical Co-Founder who genuinely believes in this mission and wants to help us build RoomReview into a scalable product.
The Role
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the technical side of RoomReview, maintain and improve our existing platform, and work closely with the founders as we move from product development towards traction and revenue.
This is not a traditional 9–5 CTO position at this stage. We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in the idea and wants to become part of the journey.
What you will do
Take technical ownership of the RoomReview platform
Develop and maintain the platform using React
Work with our existing backend/API infrastructure
Improve performance, usability and scalability
Implement new product features together with the founders
Connect frontend, backend and third-party services where required
Maintain and improve our existing codebase
Support technical decisions and product development
Help establish a reliable technical foundation for future growth
Work closely with the founders, designers and other contributors
Help shape the long-term technical roadmap
What we are looking for
Essential:
Strong commercial experience with React
Solid JavaScript/TypeScript knowledge
Experience working with APIs and backend systems
Experience maintaining and improving existing products
Understanding of databases and modern web architecture
Ability to work independently and take technical ownership
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Genuine interest in RoomReview's mission
Strong advantage:
Experience as a CTO, technical co-founder or lead developer
Experience with startups or early-stage products
Experience building SaaS or marketplace platforms
SEO-friendly web development experience
Experience with cloud hosting, deployment and security
Experience working with data-driven products
First-Year Commitment & Compensation
As an early-stage startup, RoomReview is currently in the pre-revenue growth stage. We are looking for a CTO who is willing to join us at this stage, contribute to building and maintaining the platform, and grow with the company.
The initial commitment is 12 months, focused on developing the product, building traction and establishing the business model. As RoomReview reaches sustainable revenue, the CTO will move into a paid position.
Following the first year, based on contribution, commitment and the company's progress, we would also be open to discussing an equity opportunity as part of the long-term role. Any equity arrangement would be agreed separately and formally.
