Freelance Digital Learning Developer

Role Overview
We are looking to expand its contractor pool with experienced freelance Digital Learning Developer based in India for short-term project engagements.
Location: India (Remote)
Digital Learning Developers are responsible for building, testing, and maintaining engaging digital learning solutions across a range of platforms and technologies. Working from instructional design specifications, storyboards, and visual design assets, they develop interactive e-learning experiences that are technically robust, accessible, responsive, and aligned with project requirements.
Digital Learning Developers collaborate closely with Instructional Designers, Media Designers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to transform learning concepts into high-quality digital products. They possess strong technical development skills and are proficient in industry-standard authoring tools, learning technologies, and multimedia integration.
The role requires experience developing learning solutions across various modalities, including e-learning, microlearning, simulations, performance support tools, and blended learning programmes. A sound understanding of user experience (UX), accessibility standards, quality assurance processes, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development tools, is essential to delivering modern learner-centred experiences.
Digital Learning Developers should be familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS), SCORM, xAPI, and accessibility requirements, ensuring all developed content is compliant, performant, and provides an equitable experience for all learners.
Responsibilities:
Developing digital learning content using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adapt, and other authoring platforms
Converting storyboards and visual designs into engaging, interactive learning experiences
Integrating multimedia assets including video, audio, animations, and graphics into learning solutions
Developing responsive and adaptive learning experiences for desktop and mobile devices
Configuring assessments, knowledge checks, simulations, and branching scenarios
Testing and troubleshooting learning content across devices, browsers, and LMS platforms
Publishing and packaging content to required technical standards (SCORM, AICC, xAPI, cmi5 where applicable)
Ensuring technical, accessibility, and quality requirements are met throughout development
Collaborating with Instructional Designers and Media Designers to resolve development challenges and optimise learner experience
Following project processes, timelines, and quality metrics established by the Programme Manager and Development Lead
Supporting maintenance and updates of existing learning content when required
Researching and applying new technologies, development techniques, and AI-assisted workflows to improve delivery efficiency
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong experience with learning authoring tools, particularly Articulate Storyline and Rise
Understanding of e-learning standards including SCORM, xAPI, and LMS deployment
Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web-based learning technologies
Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design principles
Experience developing responsive digital learning solutions
Knowledge of multimedia integration, optimisation, and troubleshooting
Familiarity with AI-assisted development and productivity tools
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

Experience working within agile or fast-paced project environments
Preferred Experience:
Experience with learning platforms such as Cornerstone, SuccessFactors, Moodle, or similar LMS solutions
Exposure to video editing, animation tools, or motion graphics software
Experience developing custom interactions using JavaScript and related frameworks
Knowledge of xAPI reporting and Learning Record Stores (LRS)
Experience supporting large-scale corporate learning programmes and global audiences
Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Digital Learning, Learning Technology, Software Development, Multimedia Development, or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrable portfolio showcasing developed digital learning solutions and interactive learning experiences
