Role Description The Purchasing Engineer at SNAM Group of Companies is a full-time, on-site role based in Puducherry. In this position, the individual will manage end-to-end purchasing activities, including sourcing materials, evaluating suppliers, and issuing purchase orders in line with company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing demand and inventory data, supporting purchase planning, negotiating prices and terms, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet production and project schedules. The role also involves maintaining accurate purchasing records, collaborating with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements, and identifying opportunities to optimize costs and supplier performance. The Purchasing Engineer will support continuous improvement in purchasing processes and ensure compliance with company policies and quality requirements.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of purchasing processes and purchase management, with experience in coordinating procurement activities.
Ability to develop and execute purchase planning, including forecasting material requirements and aligning with production schedules.
Hands-on experience with preparing, reviewing, and managing purchase orders, including documentation and follow-up with suppliers.
Solid analytical skills for evaluating supplier proposals, cost structures, lead times, and performance metrics.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
Familiarity with ERP or procurement software and basic knowledge of inventory management practices.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple purchasing activities within set timelines.
