Area Business Manager – Commercial Bank (Crop Loans)
Job Description
Drive acquisition of Crop Loan business across the assigned geography through direct sourcing, field visits, and channel development.
Lead and manage a team of Relationship Managers/Sales Managers responsible for Crop Loan sourcing and portfolio growth.
Achieve business targets related to loan disbursement, portfolio outstanding, customer acquisition, revenue, and profitability.
Develop strong relationships with farmers, agri-business customers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), agri-traders, commission agents, and other ecosystem partners.
Identify potential agricultural lending opportunities and expand market penetration in rural and semi-urban markets.
Monitor end-to-end loan processing including sourcing, documentation, credit assessment, sanction, and disbursement.
Ensure portfolio quality by tracking delinquencies, collections, and early warning signals.
Coordinate with Credit, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Collections teams for seamless business execution.
Conduct regular market mapping and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
Train, coach, and mentor team members on product knowledge, sales techniques, and compliance requirements.
Ensure adherence to regulatory, audit, risk, and policy guidelines of the bank.
Generate cross-sell opportunities for liability products, insurance, and other banking solutions.
Prepare and present business reviews, portfolio performance reports, and sales forecasts to senior management.
Build strategic partnerships with local influencers, agri-input dealers, mandis, cooperatives, and rural institutions.
Job Requirements
Graduate in any discipline; MBA/PGDM preferred.
6–10 years of experience in Agri Lending, Crop Loans, Rural Banking, Commercial Banking, or Agricultural Finance.
Proven experience in team handling and sales leadership roles.
Strong understanding of crop financing, agricultural value chains, KCC, seasonal lending cycles, and rural credit assessment.
Knowledge of agricultural markets, local farming practices, and government schemes related to agriculture finance.
Strong customer acquisition, relationship management, and portfolio management skills.
Good understanding of credit underwriting and risk management principles.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and team management capabilities.
