Veterinary Kennel Technician

What You’ll Do
As a veterinary kennel technician, you’ll be responsible for the daily care and comfort of patients staying in our hospital and boarding facility. Your responsibilities will include:
Feeding, walking, bathing, and caring for hospitalized and boarding animals.
Cleaning kennels, treatment areas, and other hospital spaces to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
Providing medications as directed and accurately documenting medication administration.
Monitoring appetite, behavior, elimination, and overall condition and communicating concerns to the veterinary team.
Assisting with post-operative patients and providing supportive nursing care.
Helping veterinarians and veterinary assistants with safe animal restraint during examinations and treatments.
Restocking hospital and kennel supplies.
Maintaining accurate records regarding medications, special diets, appetite, behavior, and patient concerns.
Learning to properly clean and sterilize surgical instruments as needed.
Recognizing abnormal conditions and promptly communicating changes to the veterinary team.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable veterinary kennel technician who is comfortable working with animals of different sizes, personalities, and medical needs.
Previous veterinary, kennel, boarding, or animal care experience is a plus.
Knowledge of appropriate cleaning and disinfecting practices.
Comfortable safely restraining animals or willing to learn proper veterinary restraint techniques.
Able to learn medication administration and recognize changes in patient condition.
Comfortable performing physical work, including lifting large dogs and bags of food or litter.
Patient and compassionate when caring for sick, scared, or injured animals.
Able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with the veterinary team.
Self-motivated and eager to continue learning and developing your veterinary knowledge.
This is an active veterinary environment, so you should be comfortable working around animals and potential exposure to unpleasant odors and noises, bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.
