REMOTE WORK || Senior IBM z/TPF Software Engineer W2
Design, develop, maintain, and support complex IBM z/TPF mainframe applications using High-Level Assembler (HLASM/ASM).
Debug and resolve high-priority production issues via IBM z/TPF Toolkit, debuggers, dump analysis, and diagnostic utilities.
Perform deep root-cause analysis and troubleshoot low-level system components, including Entry Control Block (ECB) processing, storage management, and transaction execution flows.
Maintain and manage TPFDF database and record structures, ordinals, file retrieval/update logic, and chain records.
Trace macro execution flows and investigate underlying logic across multiple processing paths to ensure functional accuracy.
Lead root-cause investigations for critical inventory, reservation, and ticketing system issues, providing production-safe code fixes.
Serve as a technical SME, mentor development teams, conduct peer code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, design specifications, and debug reports; support production deployments, testing, and post-release validation.
Utilize source control and change management tools (e.g., Git, Jira) and follow Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Leverage experience in high-volume transaction-processing systems, especially in industries like transportation, airline, or logistics.
(Preferred) Integrate C programming with assembler in z/TPF, and leverage knowledge of mainframe tools such as z/OS, TSO/ISPF, and JCL.
(Preferred) Participate in legacy modernization and optimization of large assembler code bases for improved transaction efficiency.
