Role Description The Refrigeration Engineer role at GSS Contracts Ltd is a full-time remote position focused on servicing commercial clients across the UK. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing faults, carrying out maintenance and repair on refrigeration, CO2, and air conditioning systems, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance. The role involves attending customer sites, completing accurate service reports, and collaborating with the Central Help Desk and engineering team to prioritize and schedule work efficiently. The Refrigeration Engineer will ensure adherence to safety standards, support system upgrades and installations, and communicate clearly with customers to explain findings, recommendations, and next steps. This remote role requires flexibility to travel within assigned regions and maintain professional standards in all customer interactions.
Qualifications
Strong technical skills in Maintenance & Repair and Preventive Maintenance for commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Hands-on experience working with CO2 refrigeration systems and related safety and regulatory requirements.
Solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, supported by relevant vocational training or qualifications.
Effective Customer Service skills, including clear communication, professionalism onsite, and the ability to build long-term client relationships.
Refrigeration and air conditioning certifications (e.g., F-Gas or equivalent) and knowledge of UK standards and regulations.
Ability to work independently in a remote, field-based role, manage time and travel efficiently, and complete documentation accurately.
Experience with commercial retail or hospitality environments and familiarity with refrigerated displays, cold rooms, and freezers is beneficial.
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel within assigned regions.
