Role Description The Director of Portfolio Management is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing the organization’s portfolio of projects and programs to ensure alignment with strategic goals and optimal use of resources. This role leads the development and maintenance of portfolio frameworks, manages prioritization and approvals, and monitors performance against financial and operational targets. Day-to-day activities include reviewing project proposals, analyzing portfolio health and risk, preparing dashboards and reports for senior leadership, and partnering with finance, program management, and business stakeholders to support decision-making. The Director will guide governance processes, facilitate portfolio review meetings, and recommend adjustments to investments, timelines, and scope as needed. This position also mentors team members, drives continuous improvement in portfolio practices, and supports the adoption of standard tools and methodologies across the organization.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, assess risk, and support evidence-based decisions.
Expertise in portfolio management and project portfolio management, with experience overseeing diverse initiatives and aligning them to strategic objectives.
Background in finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and evaluating financial performance of projects and programs.
Program management experience, including leading cross-functional initiatives, managing dependencies, and ensuring delivery against scope, time, and quality.
Proficiency with portfolio and project management tools (e.g., PPM platforms, dashboards, reporting solutions) and standard methodologies.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate across functions in a remote environment.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including coaching team members, fostering inclusive collaboration, and driving process improvement.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PgMP, PfMP, PMP, CFA) are a plus.
