Interim Chief Technology Officer

Berkley Hunt has been retained by a growing technology consultancy that builds and operates software for a portfolio of enterprise clients, including organizations in regulated industries. They are seeking a hands-on Interim CTO to set technical direction and take full ownership of their cloud platform during a pivotal period of growth.
Interim CTO (Cloud & Platform)
Role Responsibilities
Define the technology strategy and platform roadmap, aligned with commercial growth and client demand.
Take ultimate accountability for all live client environments, ensuring stability, security, and performance.
Lead the technical delivery of new client engagements, from solution design through to secure launch and ongoing support.
Set architectural standards and drive automated, repeatable delivery using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
Establish the security and governance framework, guiding the business toward standards such as SOC 2 and HIPAA.
Build a culture of operational excellence, with strong observability, incident ownership, and disaster recovery planning.
Represent the consultancy as a trusted technical voice with clients, including in pre-sales and security reviews.
Requirements
Senior technology leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Platform, or similar), ideally including interim or fractional roles.
A hands-on engineering background, with a track record of personally designing, launching, and supporting live cloud systems.
Deep cloud expertise, ideally on GCP, with strong Linux, networking, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code skills.
Experience owning Postgres and/or MySQL in live settings, and comfort debugging TypeScript/Node and Python.
A security-first mindset, with experience leading organizations through SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar frameworks.
Background in consultancies, startups, SaaS, or lean engineering teams, with strong commercial and client-facing presence.
