Job Description
The Manager, Purchasing & Design is responsible for providing leadership/direction to a team of Purchasing & Design Specialists to ensure successful delivery of Travel and Events budgets, proposals and contracts. Develop and mentor the assigned team of Purchasing & Design Specialists to ensure their career path and growth.
Job Description Details
Plan and monitor staffing and workload, ensuring appropriate resources are accountable for expected deliverables
Participate in the hiring process including hiring decisions
Mentor and train direct reports on department process compliance and position expectations
Provide performance feedback throughout year by conducting regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports
Oversee all project work on assigned workload
Ensure team members are actively participating in Client Playbooks to drive team organization and optimal performance
Drive operational excellence and growth in collaboration with Client Services
Attend proposal kick-off and turnover meetings
Conduct regular file reviews with Purchasing & Design Specialist until file is turned over to Event Management
Monitor proposal timeline management to ensure deliverable dates are met
Proof proposal budgets against program agenda
Assist with pricing standards to maximize overall profitability
Review/approve budgets and proformas
Proof and review client and supplier contracts with Purchasing & Design Specialist
Ensure compliance with negotiated savings documentation
Participate in client presentations
Develop and maintain industry relationships including hotels, NSOs, DMCs, and CVB
Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Job Description Details
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum ten years of extensive meeting/incentive & event management experience
Client and supplier contract expertise
2-3 years’ experience in successfully delegating and leading individuals/team
High level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Proven ability in project management and financial aptitude
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a deadline driven environment
Strong editing and writing skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects
Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
Superior customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
Ability to travel as needed
Maximum Base Pay
