The Role
We're looking for a College Advisor to join our remote, contract team and guide students through every stage of the application journey — from extracurricular development and college list-building to Common App strategy, supplemental essay review, and scholarship guidance. You'll work one-on-one with students (and often their families), bringing a writer's eye and a strategist's instincts to help each applicant tell the story only they can tell.
This is a flexible, session-based role: you'll meet with students synchronously and/or provide asynchronous essay feedback, based on what each student needs.
What You'll Do
Guide students through the college admissions process — from building a balanced school list to polishing final supplements
Provide expert, editorial-level feedback on Common App personal statements and supplemental essays
Offer academic and extracurricular advising tailored to each student's goals and interests
Support students through scholarship and fellowship applications
Respond promptly to scheduling and logistical requests from students and families
Collaborate with the Ellipsis team to ensure a consistent, high-quality student experience

What We're Looking For
Demonstrated experience in college advising/counseling and essay review
Strong background in student counseling, mentorship, or academic advising
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfort working independently in a remote, contract capacity
Responsiveness and reliability with scheduling and day-to-day student communication
Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, or a related field (MA/MFA a plus)
Experience working with diverse student populations across backgrounds and geographies
