Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor to join an established and growing claims operation. This is an opportunity to join an established client account and lead a team of approximately 7–8 direct reports.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workers’ compensation claims and at least 2 years of Claims Supervisor or Team Lead experience, with preference given to candidates who have 3–5+ years of supervisory experience.
This role offers excellent long-term growth potential, including the opportunity to advance into a Division Claims Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 7–8 workers’ compensation claims professionals.
Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and technical support to claims staff.
Review claim files for quality, accuracy, compliance, reserves, and appropriate claims strategy.
Assist adjusters with complex, high-exposure, and escalated workers’ compensation claims.
Monitor team performance, workloads, claim inventory, and productivity.
Conduct regular file reviews and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
Ensure claims are handled in accordance with applicable California workers’ compensation regulations and internal guidelines.
Support appropriate reserving, settlement strategies, medical management, and litigation management.
Work collaboratively with clients, adjusters, medical providers, attorneys, and other claims partners.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, claim outcomes, and overall team performance.
Participate in occasional in-person file reviews as needed.
Support training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.
Assist with special projects and other claims management responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 full years of Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor or Team Lead experience required.
Preference for candidates with 3–5+ years of claims supervisory experience.
Strong workers’ compensation claims handling background.
California workers’ compensation experience strongly preferred.
TPA experience preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop claims professionals.
Experience reviewing claim files and providing technical guidance.
Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation claims practices, regulations, and procedures.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a remote/hybrid environment.
SIP designation required within one year of hire if not already obtained.
Location & Work Arrangement
Candidates must reside in California.
Southern California candidates preferred due to occasional in-person file reviews.
Candidates residing less than 36 miles from either the Concord, CA or Orange, CA office will work a hybrid schedule of one day per week in the office.
Candidates residing 36 miles or more from the most local office may be eligible for a fully remote schedule.
Occasional in-person file reviews may be required regardless of work arrangement.
Compensation
$112,000 – $125,500 annual salary
The top end of the range is intended for highly experienced candidates and/or candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area market.
