Regional Sales Manager – Orthopedic Trauma
Citieffe USA | Citieffe.com/us
Position Summary
Citieffe USA is seeking a hands-on, growth-oriented Regional Sales Manager to lead and aggressively grow an assigned region through a combination of independent distributors and directly employed W-2 sales representatives. This position is responsible for creating new business, expanding regional coverage, driving team performance, achieving assigned sales quotas, and managing the regional budget.
The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for actively identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities throughout a region they are already familiar with. This is a hunter-oriented sales leadership position for someone who understands the orthopedic market, is clinically and technically credible, and is motivated by creating business rather than simply managing an existing territory.
The successful candidate must bring established orthopedic relationships and market knowledge within the region that can be leveraged to accelerate opportunities. At the same time, they must be equally capable of going beyond their existing network - prospecting new surgeons and accounts, opening hospital opportunities, identifying and recruiting independent distributors, developing distribution partnerships, and recruiting qualified W-2 sales representatives where additional coverage is needed.
We are looking for an experienced orthopedic sales professional with a go-getter mentality who understands the clinical environment, can communicate credibly with surgeons and sales professionals, recognizes opportunities in the field, and knows how to move those opportunities toward measurable commercial results. Existing relationships are important, but so is the drive to continuously hunt for new business, create opportunities, expand regional coverage, and build sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional Sales Strategy and Growth
• Develop and execute an aggressive regional sales strategy focused on new business creation, quota achievement, and sustainable growth.
• Continuously prospect, identify, prioritize, and pursue new surgeon, hospital, distributor, and sales-channel opportunities throughout the region.
• Expand regional coverage by combining existing relationships with proactive new-business development.
• Leverage established orthopedic contacts to accelerate opportunities while consistently developing new customer relationships.
• Own opportunities from initial identification through tangible commercial results, including new revenue, initial surgical cases, activated distributor relationships, and account approvals.
Sales Team and Distributor Leadership
• Recruit, develop, and manage independent distributors and directly employed W-2 sales representatives.
• Set clear performance expectations, coach direct reports and sales partners, and hold the regional sales organization accountable for results.
• Identify and engage prospective distributors and sales representatives to strengthen regional coverage.
• Manage a blended sales structure effectively across both independent distribution and direct employees.
Customer and Relationship Development
• Use established orthopedic relationships within the region as a foundation for business development and growth.
• Proactively hunt for and develop new surgeons, accounts, hospital opportunities, and other sources of business beyond the existing network.
• Maintain consistent field engagement and follow-through to advance qualified opportunities from initial contact to active business.
Hospital and Health-System Approvals
• Prepare and submit applications and required documentation for hospital and hospital-system approvals.
• Follow approval submissions through the process and coordinate required next steps.
• Initiate hospital approval submissions early enough to support regional sales opportunities and anticipated surgical activity.
Forecasting, Budget, and Performance Management
• Manage the assigned regional budget and track performance against sales and growth objectives.
• Maintain accurate sales forecasts and communicate expected regional performance.
• Forecast instrumentation-set needs based on anticipated surgical volume, new accounts, and regional growth plans.
• Coordinate with operations to support instrumentation availability as opportunities develop.
Internal Coordination
• Coordinate with internal teams to support customers and regional sales activity.
• Communicate regional opportunities, expected surgical volume, account approvals, and instrumentation needs to support execution.
Minimum Qualifications
• Deep orthopedic sales and clinical experience with demonstrated success developing new business and growing a territory or region.
• Established orthopedic contacts and relationships within the region that can be leveraged to support immediate business development.
• Demonstrated hunter mentality with a track record of prospecting, creating opportunities, converting new business, and achieving assigned quotas.
• Ability to lead both independent distributors and direct employees.
• Strong communication, organization, forecasting, and budget-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Orthopedic trauma, joints, extremities and/or sport medicine experience.
First 90 Days
The Regional Sales Manager is expected to develop and execute a 30-, 60-, and 90-day plan that combines activation of existing orthopedic relationships with aggressive new-business development and produces tangible, measurable commercial progress within the first 90 days.
First 30 Days
• Engage existing orthopedic contacts while immediately beginning proactive prospecting and new-opportunity development.
• Assess the region, identify immediate growth opportunities, and establish a prioritized action plan with measurable goals.
By 60 Days
• Advance qualified opportunities toward business and demonstrate an active pipeline created through both existing relationships and new prospecting.
• Engage prospective distributors and sales representatives where additional coverage is needed.
• Initiate hospital and hospital-system approval submissions where required.
By 90 Days
• Demonstrate tangible results from both established relationships and newly created regional opportunities.
• Results may include new revenue, initial surgical cases, activated distributor relationships, or secured account approvals.
• Progress will be evaluated against goals agreed upon with leadership.
Before You Apply
Please do not apply if you do not have deep orthopedic sales and clinical experience within the region.
Candidates must bring established orthopedic relationships they can leverage, along with a demonstrated hunter mentality and the ability to proactively create new business beyond their existing network. Both are required for consideration.
