Zonal Head – North India (Modern Trade)

About the Role
Moi Soi is looking for a Zonal Head to build and own our Modern Trade business across North India. This is a pure Modern Trade mandate, it does not include General Trade, E-commerce or Quick Commerce. The person in this role owns the P&L for the zone and is expected to operate like an entrepreneur setting up their own business inside Moi Soi, not a manager maintaining an existing one.
What You'll Own
- Local P&L for Modern Trade across Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
- Building and scaling Reliance as a primary account, at both category and regional relationship level.
- Owning DMart as a core account, this requires real, store-level relationships across the zone's DMart footprint, not just a head-office contact.
- Developing Walmart, Metro Cash & Carry and other large format Modern Trade chains as growth accounts.
- Setting up Moi Soi's Modern Trade presence in markets where we're starting from limited or no base, hands-on account acquisition, not inherited accounts.
- Merchandising and in-store execution personally when needed, not just delegating it.
- Building and leading a zonal team as the business scales.
Candidate Profile — Essential
- 15+ years in Modern Trade sales specifically. Candidates with only General Trade experience should not apply.
- Existing, real category-level and local relationships with DMart, at store and regional level, not a historical account managed years ago.
- Strong, current relationship with Reliance's regional teams.
- Working relationships with Walmart, Metro Cash & Carry or other large format Modern Trade chains.
- Genuine local connectivity across the North India zone, Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
- A real understanding of and connection to the Moi Soi brand and category, this isn't a role for someone treating us as a stopgap.
- Hands-on merchandising and selling ability. This role gets on the ground.
- A stable career track record. We're not looking for someone who's changed companies every 12–18 months.
Preferred Background
- Candidates from Capital Foods (Ching's Secret, Smith & Jones), Veeba Foods, Nestlé India (Maggi noodles/sauces), ITC Foods, MTR Foods / Orkla India, Haldiram's, or HUL's Knorr business are strongly preferred.
- Tata Consumer, Marico, Mamaearth or other strong regional/national FMCG brands also considered.
- Experience in Chinese, Asian or imported food categories will be valued.
Not a Fit
- General Trade-only sales background.
- E-commerce or Quick Commerce-only experience, this role is Modern Trade exclusively.
- Candidates from purely grains, commodity or dairy trading backgrounds.
- Frequent job-changers.
What Success Looks Like
A Modern Trade business across North India built the way a founder builds a business, real DMart and Reliance penetration store by store, Walmart and Metro developed as genuine growth accounts, a P&L owned end to end, and a zone that looks materially different in 18 months than it does today.
