Role Description
The People Specialist is a volunteer, remote role responsible for overseeing people-related matters across Female Leadership Society's community and operations. This position manages volunteer engagement, supports organizational culture, and helps structure internal people processes and policies. Day-to-day tasks include leading recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteers and contributors, as well as developing initiatives around culture, engagement, and member well-being, supporting teams in structuring roles and clarifying responsibilities, and implementing lightweight HR processes suited to a nonprofit, remote environment (feedback, recognition, conflict resolution). The People Specialist will collaborate closely with executive leadership to align people strategy with the organization's mission and growth objectives, and may coordinate with other pillar leads and partners as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or Talent Management.
Proficiency in designing and implementing people processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and engagement initiatives, with the ability to interpret and present people-related matters to non-specialist stakeholders.
Experience with organizational culture and well-being initiatives, including developing and managing lightweight HR frameworks aligned with organizational priorities
Commercial acumen to lead with local and global partners
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for translating team dynamics into practical, people-centered recommendations.
Prior executive search experience is appreciated.
English speaker; fluency in German or French is a strong asset.
MBA is a plus.
Experience in non-profit, membership-based, or mission-driven organizations is an advantage.
Knowledge of relevant Swiss regulatory standards and best practices for volunteer and contributor arrangements is a plus.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural and collaborative environment.
