THE OPPORTUNITY
Harrison Gray Search is partnering with a nationally recognized, fee-only, majority employee-owned RIA to identify a Senior Product Manager. Our client is investing meaningfully in its technology platform to support a growing, geographically distributed advisor base, and this role owns the roadmap for one of the firm's core product pods. It sits at the intersection of business strategy, advisor experience, and engineering execution, and reports directly to the Chief Product Officer.
The firm recently appointed its Chief Product Officer and is building its product organization from the ground up. The central initiative is an internal advisor platform that consolidates the 15 to 20 systems advisors use daily (portfolio management, financial planning, custodial, CRM, and meeting tools) into a single firm-owned data layer and advisor experience, with an AI-driven intelligence layer on top. A pilot launches this fall, with firm-wide rollout planned for early 2027. These are the first product hires in that organization.
The firm is hiring for up to three Senior Product Managers, each aligned to a distinct pod: the core advisor platform, business analytics and reporting (including Power BI dashboarding and marketing/digital lead data), and the AI intelligence layer (agents, model governance, and cost optimization). POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Product Manager leads the roadmap, development, and enhancement of technology solutions that support the wealth management business. As a privately held Registered Investment Advisor, our client is committed to delivering exceptional client experiences through innovative technology, operational excellence, and fiduciary-driven advice.
The Senior Product Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, sets and defends priorities directly with business leadership, and partners with engineering (in-house and outsourced), operations, compliance, and advisors across a growing and geographically distributed advisor base. This role requires seasoned product management judgment, the ability to navigate ambiguity in an early-stage product organization, and a strong understanding of financial services technology and regulatory constraints.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Strategy & Roadmap
Own and defend the product vision, roadmap, and priorities for the assigned pod's internally developed and third-party integrated applications
Set pod-level OKRs and align initiatives with the firm's strategic objectives, advisor needs, client experience goals, and regulatory requirements
Identify and champion opportunities to automate workflows, improve operational efficiency, and create competitive differentiation through technology
Develop and present business cases, trade-off analyses, and success metrics for major product initiatives, including resourcing asks
Product Development
Translate ambiguous or competing business requirements into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
Own backlog prioritization for the pod based on business value, customer impact, technical feasibility, and regulatory considerations
Partner with engineering leads, including outsourced development partners, throughout the Agile development lifecycle, including scoping and sequencing multi-quarter initiatives
Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing, user acceptance, and product releases for the pod
Establish quality bars and iterate based on continuous feedback and usage data
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the pod's primary liaison between business leadership and technology teams
Act as the product partner to the pod's business-leadership counterpart, jointly accountable for adoption outcomes
Engage advisors, operations, compliance, client service, and executive leadership directly to gather feedback and validate priorities
Facilitate workshops, product demonstrations, and roadmap reviews for cross-functional and executive audiences
Communicate product strategy, timelines, risks, and release plans to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
User Experience & Process Improvement
Analyze advisor workflows across a diverse, geographically distributed advisor base and identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve usability
Leverage customer feedback, analytics, and operational metrics to drive product enhancements and prioritization decisions
Champion user-centered design principles and drive adoption of new capabilities across offices
Vendor & Platform Management
Own relationships with third-party technology providers and integration partners relevant to the pod, including contract and renewal discussions
Evaluate new technology solutions, lead build-vs-buy analysis, and recommend enhancements to the firm's technology ecosystem
Direct API integrations and data exchange between portfolio management, CRM, custodial, financial planning, and reporting systems
Compliance & Risk Management
Partner with Compliance, Information Security, and Legal teams to ensure the pod's products meet applicable regulatory requirements
Incorporate security, privacy, and governance requirements into product planning from the outset of major initiatives
Own audit readiness and documentation for the pod's technology initiatives
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal direct reports. As the product team scales, provides mentorship, technical and product guidance, and work-in-progress review for Product Managers or Associate Product Managers within the pod, and may lead hiring and onboarding for pod-level product roles.
ROLE-SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Own pod-level roadmap outcomes and OKRs, delivering high-quality software products on time and within scope
Improve operational efficiency through automation and workflow optimization across the pod's product area
Enhance client and advisor experience through intuitive digital capabilities, measured by adoption and satisfaction metrics
Ensure solutions comply with required and desired regulatory compliance, with minimal escalations from audit or compliance review
Represent the pod credibly and independently in front of executive leadership
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree a plus.
Experience
Product management, business analysis, or technology product ownership experience within an RIA, wealth management, broker-dealer, or wealthtech organization. Familiarity with how advisors work and what advisory leadership needs from technology is required.
5+ years of software product management experience is the target, including demonstrated ownership of a product area or roadmap with minimal oversight. The firm will consider less experienced candidates with a strong wealth background and exceptional track record.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and product management methodologies, with experience shaping process for a team rather than only following it
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to and influencing executive stakeholders
Experience translating complex, sometimes competing business requirements into technical solutions and defensible trade-offs
Demonstrated ability to operate independently in an ambiguous, early-stage environment
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with advisor technology platforms such as Tamarac, Orion, Salesforce, eMoney, MoneyGuide, trading, document management, and client portals
Knowledge of custodial platforms and financial data integrations, including data aggregation or data lake initiatives
For the analytics pod: Power BI and digital marketing analytics experience
For the intelligence pod: experience shipping AI agents or LLM-based features, including governance, model tuning, and cost management
Experience mentoring or informally leading other product managers
Experience integrating or migrating technology stacks following an acquisition or merger
